The activities of RASTR at present are in the areas of education, fight against corruption, women empowerment, proper rural & urban development, health care, guidance to youth, culture, protection of environment & sustainable development, etc. We work actively in creating awareness among the people about the need for the creation of an honest and just society, free from evils like greed, selfishness and exploitation, and to make the citizens realise their rights and duties, and also to cultivate good civic sense. We also encourage the people to be active socially and politically, to challenge exploitation, injustice, corruption, inefficiency, and to work for promotion of general peace and harmony among all living beings of the universe.

We have undertaken various activities continuously, one recent activity being the support for education of children from economically underprivileged sections in the Bommanahalli area of the city. We have arranged for school fees, books, uniforms, and food for these children. The chapter has also arranged for courses to improve the communication skills in English, computers & career counseling in different orphanages and for economically underprivileged children.

One of our primary objectives is to encourage & motivate the common man / woman to rise to fight exploitation, corruption and injustice. One such activity that was taken up actively was to condemn the killing of farmers at Nandigram, caught in the heat of agricultural land acquisition for Special Economic Zones (SEZs).

The right to information (RTI) has been a very effective tool in the hands of active citizens across the country. Rashtrotthan Sankalp has also taken up this as a major area of activity. Our associates across the country have spent lot of energy in educating people about this right, its effectiveness in not only solving their long‑standing problems but also exposing corruption & inefficiency in public institutions.

Our associates have filed a number of RTI applications relating to various aspects of administration affecting the citizens. Among the subjects that it has taken up, are Cleanliness at public places, Health, Sanitation, Pollution, Education, Elections, National Flag, use of MP’s Area Development (MPLADS) funds, etc. The next step in making the administration responsive and efficient would be to challenge inefficiency & corruption by all means including organizing citizens’ movement, Public Interest Litigations (PILs), etc.

We encourage people not only to stand against external corruptions like bribing but also to realise the need to guard against internal corruption, loss of moral values and strength of character. As part of this campaign, we will shortly begin orientation programmes in Educational institutions, Offices, etc. to educate citizens about use of various tools like RTI in the fighting corruption.

Another significant activity in recent times has been the awareness campaign that we carried out on the eve of the Independence Day about the proper use of the National Flag, with the highest dignity it deserves!
